Computers Tree
Computers Tree is designed to provide you with quick access to
event logs and event log files.
Add Computer to Tree
To add a new computer to the tree:
- Select Tree->Add Computer
from the main menu or click
or right click on the computer tree and select
Add Computer.
- In the Select Computer dialog
box, check Another computer.
- Click
, then
select the computer in the Browse for
Network Computer dialog box and press OK.
- Type the computer description in the Description field.
- Select the computer group from Group field.
- Press OK button.
Add Group to Tree
To make the tree more compact and usable, Event Log Explorer
allows you to group computers in the tree.
To add a group to the tree:
- Select Tree->Add Group from
the main menu or click
or right click on the computer tree and select
Add Group.
- In the Add Group dialog box,
type group name and comment (group description).
- Press OK.
Add Log File to Tree
Log files are added to the tree automatically when you use
File->Open command and
Automatically add log files to
tree option is enabled in Log Files Preferences.
Remove Computer Group or Log File
To remove a computer, group or a log file from the tree:
Select the object you wish to delete.
Click or
right click on the computer tree and select Remove <object>.
Sorting Items in Tree
To sort items within the same nesting level, right click on the
item in the tree and select Move
Up or Move Down from the
context menu. You can also use keyboard shortcuts (Alt+Up or
Alt+Down).
To move the computer to another group, right click on the
computer in the tree and select Properties from the context menu. In the
Computers Properties dialog,
change Group field and press
OK.
